Professional Background
Dr. Shakib’s work focuses on sports gender and race, chronic illness and smoking. She was previously a senior research associate at the Institute for Health Promotion & Disease Prevention Research at USC’s Keck School of Medicine. She also was s staff research associate at the Center for Community Health, Neuropsychiatric Institute, at University of California at Los Angeles. Her work has been published in journals such as American Journal of Preventative Medicine, International Review for the Sociology of Sport and Sociological Perspectives.
