Beheshti’s research interests include network security, big data, multidisciplinary research, and curriculum development. He serves as director of Center for Excellence in Knowledge Management and Computational Science at CSUDH to help promote research and education for the college, as well as director of the Computer Science Research Lab, where he conducts research in intrusion detection system and data mining/big data in collaboration.
Beheshti has developed new graduate and undergraduate programs to better prepare students for the workforce, and their studies. He has extensive experience in developing supervised/closed laboratories, and has developed course and lab manuals. Beheshti has received numerous grants to advance technology in education; he is the co-primary investigator for two multi-campus National Science Foundation supported projects: CAHSI-Computing Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institutions extending from California all the way to Puerto Rico, and CAHSI INCLUDES, focused on the South West region. The two projects promote computing and increase the number of Hispanic and other underserved minorities in the field of computing. Beheshti has also hosted a series of workshops for high school teachers to further promote computer science to high school students.
