Professional Background

Caffrey’s scholarship focuses on information literacy applications in higher education and information-seeking behavior of various populations. She has researched the phenomenon of illicit research article sharing through #icanhazpdf and SciHub and the implications for information access. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as College & Research Libraries, Library Quarterly, and Reference Services Review. Her co-edited book, “Hidden Architectures of Information Literacy Programs: Structures, Practices, and Contexts,” was published by ACRL in 2020. Most recently her work is exploring the application of critical pedagogy to library instruction environments through the inclusion of algorithmic literacy concepts.
