Professional Background
DeLuca is a director, writer, and teacher from New York. He has worked at the Guthrie Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club, and the Yale Rep. He has taught acting and directing at colleges in New Hampshire, Ohio, New Jersey, and California. DeLuca has directed such shows as Hairspray, Quixote, Twelfth Night, Fences, and For Colored Girls at both regional and university theatres across the country.
As a professor, DeLuca teaches directing, playwriting, theatre history, creative dramatics, the American musical, Theatre of Evolt, and the Power of Masks. He is the project director of Teatro Dominguez, a multicultural theatre company of students, faculty, and staff devoted to cross cultural enhancement at CSUDH. For Teatro, he has written and directed issue-driven works and folktale-based children’s musicals that tour in local schools, and managed the Women’s Playwright Festival on campus. Dedicated to community service using theatre, he also created The Dominguez Bridge Theatre Company.
